Ernesto Graditi

Galerie St. George is proud to present the powerful work of Ernesto Graditi. Graditi was born in Sicily in 1972 and began his painting career in Palermo in 1990. As a scholar at the University of Palermo, Graditi earned three degrees including architecture and a Master of Set Design for cinema and television.

The artist has won a number of prizes in juried shows in Italy over the past seventeen years, and since 2006 the artist created many performances throughout Sicily which integrate design, fashion, dance and music.

His most important pictorial series “Normannesimo”, consisting of fifty oil canvases, is on permanent display at the Regional Museum in Terrasini, Sicily. His surrealistic and haunting “Death and Resurrection” collection embodies disturbing images of religious figures, and the flight and peril of human follies played out against the grip of spiritual forces.

Joseph Greenberg

Joseph Greenberg, a NYC native born in 1926, has been painting and documenting his favorite city since his first exhibition here in 1954.

Having learned his craft at The Art Student's League, Greenberg created an extensive series of large oil canvases depicting life in Manhattan, including stunning studies of the city at night and in near darkness.

This remarkable body of work will be shown at Galerie St. George opening 7.25.09.

Jamie Brant

Jamie Brant brings a strong background as a painter, muralist and collagist to her unique organic and experimental furniture designs.

An expert colorist and non-objective artist, Brant takes traditional furniture design into an entirely new direction.

Combining radical forms as the skin for truly useful furniture is the hallmark of this unique artist.

Clifford Johnson Paintings

Modern paintings for the ceiling? It may seem absurd, but not to Clifford Johnson.

While the art world was working through its “isms” of the 20th century, Clifford Johnson was going his own way.

In the early 1960’s, he began to explore weightlessness. He focused on themes of light, movement and organic form, drawing on his mastery of line and composition.

This journey led to a series of soaring paintings for the ceiling which were the subject of two solo exhibits in New York City.

These were followed by a series based on Greek mythology, which are being shown here for the first time.

Lynn Singer

For twenty years Lynn Singer has been photographing her travels, particularly in Greece and creating intimate studies of family, friends and students.

During that time master printer Vincent Tcholakian of Diana Lab has been her printer and mentor.

She presented her first show of Greece with The Greek Photos in 1998 at the 2/20 Gallery in Chelsea, NYC.

To date, every public presentation of her work have been photos of Greece. Ms. Singer’s work is in private collections.

All of the artist's photographs are taken with 35mm cameras on black & white film.

Alicia Hoogveld

Emerging from the world of indie rock and art school in Calgary, AB Canada, Alicia Hoogveld is a photographer who is breaking barricades almost daily.

The 24-year old artist is turning her lens onto her own persona, sexuality and desires to produce a powerful series of self-portraits.

"The Passions of Alicia", a new body of work begun in September 2009, blows the doors off of conventional portraiture and erotica, and pushes pedal to metal in a cinematic style reminiscent of camera masters like Vittorio Storaro, each scene lit and captured by this young director.

With a background as a rock guitarist and vocalist, Hoogveld brings the high energy and rawness of heavy metal to her self-images, which shimmer with their own kinetic energy.

Francis Tucker

Born in 1964 in Cologne, Germany, Francis Tucker comes from a long line of artists in Germany and Austria.

As a child growing up in Cologne, he often painted in his grandfather's studio, and was later influenced by the work of Keith Haring in the 1980's.

In 1995 he began the development of his own painting style with development of a character, the "Tucker".

This figure appears in all of his works, and represent the struggle of mankind in a deeply political world.

Tucker is widely exhibited and sold in Germany and has created more than 700 works.

Tomasz Koclega

Tomasz Koclega was born in 1968 in Zawiercie, Poland, and now makes his home in Pyskowice.

Koclega is a sculptor making large-scale abstract expressionist human figures, nine to ten feet tall.

He says, "As a sculptor I am interested in the interaction between my works and their surroundings."

"I often set my sculptures in a natural environment; in trees or rivers but also in urban spaces; in squares or market places".

"The exhibitions in public spaces have recently become the most important form of my artistic expression".

Charles Chace

Charles Chace makes his home in Lake City, Florida where he works in a large studio in charcoal on metal panels.

Chace's unique neo-pop art makes use of graffiti, iconic imagery from the world of advertising, and embodies a sardonic viewpoint.

The power of this artist lies in his skillful manipulation of comic-book imagery woven together with kinetic energy.

Chace focuses down on underlying values that society clings to, perhaps mistakenly.

Galerie St. George is the exclusive world-wide representative and manager of Charles Chace.
